BIOGRAPHY

Throughout the history of rock n’ roll, there has always been a thriving scene of
music coming from Asbury Park, New Jersey. Jarod Clemons is one of the new voices,
carrying on this tradition of great music for a modern generation. Clemons' music fuses
many different styles, showcasing his talents as a songwriter, who can tackle a variety
of genres, while still making it sound unique to him. He has the ability to write songs that
have driving blues rhythms and ferocious guitar licks, while also crafting beautiful
ballads with stripped-back acoustic guitar and soaring vocal passages. He has breathed
in great music throughout his life and now his sound is fully realized.
It should be no surprise that Clemons has been able to cultivate a name for
himself, as he has been soaking in great music since the moment he was born.
Clemons was raised in a musical family, as his father, Clarence Clemons, was the
longtime saxophonist in Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band and his mother was
accomplished choir vocalist Jacquelyn Monteau. At the early age of five, Jarod Clemons
was already showing signs of a future in music, as he began curiously crafting his first
drum beats, internalizing the rhythmic heart of rock and roll. In the following years, he
would expand his talents further by learning guitar in the style of the greats like Stevie
Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix. Today, Clemons attributes his vocal style to be a blend
of both his father and mother, as he melds their separate musical backgrounds together
to create his own voice. The combination of this wealth of musical knowledge and the
ability to write great songs that come straight from the soul makes Clemons’ sound
immediate and captivating.
Jarod Clemons has been able to pave his way over the last few years, as he has
become one of the brightest acts to come out of the Jersey Shore over the past decade.
He gained much notoriety with his band, The Late Nights, which was an ode to the past,
giving listeners full throttle rock music that would be immediately impactful. Now,
however, Clemons has a new project that is pushing his sound into new territories. He’ll
be working with Telegraph Hill Records, which has been an ongoing relationship since
he was working with the Late Nights. Veering away from the classic rock sound,
Clemons’ new material favors soulfulness and more lyric-driven material, while still
capturing the same immediacy as his past work. “I want people to feel like they can
connect with my new music,” Clemons says, as it’s apparent that he’s striving for
deeper meaning through his music. Clemons wants his audience to be able to relate to
situations that he’s been through, as it changes the dichotomy between audience and
artist, linking the two together into something more communal.
This new sound for Clemons started with his single “In the Shadows” from 2021.
Written during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, this song expresses a sense of

isolation that everyone felt during this time. The song sees Clemons at his most
vulnerable as it’s about trying to triumph over the toughest moments one can have.
Lyrics about holding on tight in these dark moments are accompanied by elegantly
arranged strings, and angelic vocal passages, with beautiful harmonies. The second
half of the track introduces wailing lead guitar and bombastic drums, crescendoing to a
climactic high point. Taking inspiration from modern singer/songwriters like James Bay
and Noah Kahan, this song takes this style into new territory, building up to be an
anthemic powerhouse.
Jarod Clemons’ new music is transcending genres, as he creates an original
sound that can only be described as his. While he has had many phases in his musical
career, this new chapter is a metamorphosis of sorts, as his writing has become more
soulful than it's ever been. This is evident by the new single he has out, as it shows a
deeper side of his musical identity. A lot more varied material is to come soon as well,
as he’s striving to create an eclectic sound. Clemons is working on these songs with
Telegraph Hill Records, which will transpire as a new album within the next year or so.
Whatever comes next from Clemons will be greatly anticipated by fans of soulful
singer/songwriter music that reaches a deep musical connection.
